What do you think about the “playing dead” and “monkey” perk ideas in Modern Warfare 2?
I recently got a comment either here, or maybe it was at cod6.org, and the person was basically saying they should make a perk on Modern Warfare 2 that allows a player to “play dead”. Now before I go on let me just say I don’t think IW will never make this happen for various reasons. That being said, out of all the ideas for perks that I’ve heard for Modern Warfare 2 that IW will never implement, this “playing dead” is my second favorite after the “monkey” perk which would allow players to climb trees. Both the “monkey” perk and the playing dead perk are ideas that the community came up with. I actually saw people talking about the playing dead perk while WaW was in development.
I always look at things on how they would effect S&D games because that’s basically the only game mode I play. I think a play dead perk would actually be pretty awesome for S&D. Think about if you were the last player alive on your team and you go to the bomb and play dead with the other dead bodies, when they come to plant or difuse, BAM.
So how do you feel about this perk? How about the tree climbing perk, that would come in really handy for snipers.
Also, before I end this post, I’d love to see more destructable parts of the map like they have in Battlefield Bad Company only minus the tanks. Let’s say you call and air strike on some little house, I feel like the house shouldn’t be able to withstand 3 bombs being dropped on it…it’s just not realistic.

Play dead is a lot like cheating. its one thing to hide well, but with no indication of being out in the open is close to cheating
I think if you go prestige you should get somthing new every time to make people wont to. and we should be able to pick our golden guns because i really dont like the golden sniper
more camo and more shotguns because there was only 2 and be able to pick your own golden guns and silences on snipers and more attachments like red dots on snipers and also be able to creat your own person and have your clothes can have camo on and camo on pistols

i agree the gold sniper horable and it is rubbish and i also agree on getting something when you prestige because people are staying on 0 prestige
I will try to be more reasonable than most, play dead cannot be included simply because Treyarch stated that when they had play dead in the beta the game turned into a shoot anything that looks like a person even if its dead. which would take away from fun. Monkey would make it extremely hard to kill a sniper hiding in a tree, although if you could blow up trees with grenades or C4 then that might make it more balanced but if your hiding in a indestructible tree thats would be extremely unfair. and gold camouflage for all guns would be nice but i don’t really care that much.
nice, thats an awesome idea. I always love making a character and getting diff camo. thats why i liked ranibow 6 vegas, becasue of that. the game sucked other than that. and they stated that they wont put silnecers on gun, have no idea y but it would be sweet. And playing dead would be cool, but suck. It would be like juggernaut.All the noobs would use it on every class and they just get easy kills that way. It would be nice though,@JaKeSniPeS
PLaying dead is an OK idea i mean it sounds cool if your the one playing dead but i can just see it now. Me going into difuse the bomb and all i see are all these dead bodies then as soon as i start difusing i get my ass knifed. this would piss me off. i mean if there is a play dead perk there most be a perk that allows you to tell if people are playing dead. kinda like bomb squad.
In CoD 4, on the 360 atleast, if you lay down on the ground and repeatedly tap the ‘Y’ button, you look as though you are dead. Quite funny to see when playing S&D and its 1 vs 1. Just let the other team run around you a bit and plant, then shoot/knife them and disarm.

What they should also do is when you have red dot site you can change the color of the dot like red, blue, green, orange….And you should be able to change the scope on sniper like on cod4 theres only 2 scopes ACOG and that default one.
There should be silencers that you can unlock for snipers but only at a certain prestige and it takes up a perk spot like an attachment, maybe in the section for UV jammer (IF they have one) so they are not impposible to find. You should also be able to choose the colour of your armour like vegas6. Also i Saw hostages on part of a trailer and thought that for a game mode you could have a cpu that was a hostage and that one team had to remove the bombs in a timelimit, a bit like search and destroy.
A soldier wouldnt use a silencer on a sniper because it reduces the range.
A ‘play dead perk’ would be pretty cool…but with limits. First they should make it like if you were actually laying down. You head tilted to the side and not being able to look around and have to go by feel or hearing or UAV or something…plus i think holding your breath could come into play. And if someone came across you they should still be able to tell you alive. Maybe by moving slightly b/c of breathing or having you name still light up in red…I think this would be great to catch people who are running around or in a hurry like in S&D where you might not be looking around for dead bodies that might suddenly pop you one in the back…
if u are going to have the play dead perk it should be limited to like a ten second interval or maybe like two times a match idk it seems kind of unfair and i know it would piss me off
i think you should be able to put more then one equipment on your like on the M4…that you could use a silencer and a red dot at te same time..that is a good idea that is going to make people buy…and i would be the first one
if there was a “play dead” perk it would have to come at a price. u shud be able to have another perk to see the ones playing dead cuz u would jus be running around jus lookin 4 that guy and then BAMM ur dead i wod get pissed if that was mee. that perk is just a waste of time
I love both of these perks. I think anything to make the game as realistic as possible is a great idea. No, it’s not cheating. If you can do it in real war then you should be able to do it in the game. What I would really like to see is a perk that allows you to take anything you want from a dead player. Claymores, grenades etc…
Soldiers do use silencers on snipers. Not all sniper shots are taken from the same distance, there for range is not always a factor. Lots of sniper shots are only a few hundred yards. Obviously , a silencer or suppressed shot would be very useful in those scenarios.@SamD350
the “play dead” perk is ok i think it should be your first perk so it wud be like a grenade launcher you have 2 times you can do it kind of like a sniper you can hold your breath so that the enemy cant hear or see you. the monkey perk i think is great but you should be able to like light the tree on fire and get the kill of blow it up. you should get money instead of exp. you unlock the stuff and then you can buy it so you could save up your money and then buy all the atchments for a gun but there not cheep!

I think it would cool to have multible attachments such dual mag and red dot sight.

playing dead is a terrible idea, no offense to you. i enjoyed your ideas, but how can you complain about martyrdom being gay and then suggest the campfest that a play dead perk would bring along? i agree with the other guy, monkey would be tolerable if the trees are destructable, otherwise no thank you.
The playing dead perk would be retarded not because the perk would be unfair but because it would change the way the game is played. It would also be just as bad as putting a silencer on a sniper. Snipers are annoying on their own just because of their high power, range, and accuracy. Add on being invisible on my radar?? I would not play the game after the 17th time the same guy killed me as I spawn.
The game is supposed to be chaotic and intense. But with a play dead perk it would become a camping nightmare.
I think putting silencers on a sniper is a good idea i mean like say ur playin search and destroy and ur the last man standing u could have an advantage over the other team because u could cover the bomb from a distance and have the element of surprise it awesome
i think that it should hav like a gears of war feature where u can drag away last standers to cover so u can revive them

hey ive got modern warfare 2 now and i have completed it it is an amazing game dont say its shit because u have not played it.
well playing dead perk whouldnt work to good without ninja, because people using heartbeat sensors will be able to tell if your alive or not, so no ninja no good reason for playing dead.

ok i dont know why it posted twice but w/e. i forgot to mention if anyone wanted to add me as a friend my user name is Neewollah25. uk 2 i agree with you the live is awesome. i havent even played story mode yet and i am level over lvl 50. i havent desided whether or not i am going to pre.yet or not. i heard its like basly starting all over again with guns and everything exepct the titles and emblems. which in my opinion is kinda gay. they should give you more choices on stuff. jmp though.
