You can’t shoot with riot shield out

September 23rd, 2009

modernwarfare2There were few important interviews of Infinity Ward last week in Los Angeles at the Modern Warfare 2 event. Some more information has been detailed on the game’s multiplayer. Items such as the riot shield were more talked about and assurances about martyrdom were also given by Infinity Ward.

In fact one of the most visible additions to the game’s multiplayer is the riot shield and it allows the players to completely block enemy fire. A good reason has been given by Infinity Ward behind this item and it has been also assured that it won’t break the game.

Todd Alderman, the multiplayer design lead said, “There is even something in there for people that can’t shoot…You get the riot shield and your job is to help your team.”

Fans of Modern Warfare 2 are worried about the riot shield that it may unbalance the game.

Infinity Ward says that the shield will only act as a primary weapon. With it players will be able to hold it with pistols. To it Alderman said, “So when you have the riot shield out, you can’t shoot. All you are doing is blocking.”

Well, there has been no word found in the interview on how this might be affected by a return of the overkill perk from CoD4 that allow the players to carry two primary weapons at once.

Video of demo at E3 in Los Angeles

June 7th, 2009

There were lots of questions raised as to why the term Call of Duty is not used in Modern Warfare 2 because it is the sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Robert Bowling, the community manager has given an explanation to this decision of the Infinity Ward.

Robert Bowling recently said to MTV that the game is called only Modern Warfare 2 because they want to emphasize on the fact that Modern Warfare is a direct sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. He said, “This has never happened inCall of Duty before. They’re typically their own campaigns and totally unrelated to the previous one. This one, is indeed a direct sequel and we just want to make that clear.”

The flipside to the Modern Warfare 2 title is that folks may not know that it is still essentially a CoD game.

Well! The demo of the game at E3 conference in Los Angeles was pulse pounding. It was awesome. Here is a video of the demo.

Demo of MW2 was pulse pounding

June 3rd, 2009

Gamers would have loved to be at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on the occasion of E3 conference. But all were not fortunate to watch the demo of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2. The domo of the game was awesome. The graphics were unbelievable. In fact everything was pulse pounding thrills.

The demo of Modern Warfare 2 opened up with a precarious climb up icy cliffs. It was just like a prelude to an assault on a snowy mountain encampment. The graphics of the game are definitely more than what was expected. It did a good job of conveying a sense of danger and being trapped in the snow.

It was noticed that once the demo of the game got into the action, the hazy snow atmosphere in the game gave a nice fog of war. There could be seen a great way to sneak up on enemies out of the haze and also to pop them for one shot kills.

It was also seen that the lethality against the enemies remained high with most of the enemies falling from one to two shots only. The muffled rifle sound in the game seemed to be very real.

There were also some wild action movie style combats having absurd levels of action. The demo of the game was short but it had left an impression of that may November 10 come soon.
