MW2 DLC coming in spring 2010. Activision hinted. It is on a tie-in energy drink.
Activision has struck a deal with the Monster energy drinks to launch branded caffeine juice. The can will carry a competition and the prize will be Modern Warfare 2 map pack.
According to claims of the competition, there will be 5000 MW2 map packs that will be given away and the expected date of the release is not exactly confirmed but it may be sometimes in Spring 2010.
Apart from MW2 map packs as a prize, other prizes include dashboard themes, copies of MW2 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and of course free drinks.

Monster Energy will start the selling of this branded drinks called (may be) “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Energy Power Maxxtreme 2″ later this month in the US. Boxes of six and four will be available. Fans buying box of six can get an involvement in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Combat Training Experience, which is an online event hosted by Infinity Ward.
There will be no option to allow players to search multiplayer games within the same region or same country. This has been confirmed by Infinity Ward after several requests by international players in improving lag in the game.
Robert Bowling, Creative Strategist of Infinity Ward, posted on Twitter saying, “There isn’t an option to search specific regions/ countries when matchmaking, but there is improved matchmaking to auto-assist.” He writes further that the improved matchmaking system will be automatically connecting players to games that best suits for their connection.
When Robert Bowling asked whether local matchmaking in a later patch could be added, then he said that it was a possibility. He wrote, “We’ll monitor community feedback closely post launch to see if the improved matchmaking benefits international users or not.”
There was also a large thread generated in the Infinity Ward forums by a New Zealand user. He described his playing experience there in the previous series of the game against North American players.
He wrote: “You encounter an enemy, you shoot at him with enough rounds for a kill with your AK or your sniper rifle and the ‘X’ damage indicator comes up. But for some reason you die and he does not. You watch the killcam to see why you died, and apparently you didn’t even fire off a shot. You just got killed by lag.”
There will be no demo of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 before the launch on November 10. This has been confirmed Infinity Ward through their Twitter account.
On Twitter Infinity Ward writes: “No plan for a Demo before launch. The entire team is focused on polish all the way up to ship of the full game.”
May be as a fan it does not sounds good because we are eager to get a demo of it to the earliest.
Well, there is a good reason on part of Infinity Ward. They want to keep the excitement of the game till it is shipped.
If we recall, demo of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was also not released and a demo for Call of Duty: World at War was released after the launch.
There were few important interviews of Infinity Ward last week in Los Angeles at the Modern Warfare 2 event. Some more information has been detailed on the game’s multiplayer. Items such as the riot shield were more talked about and assurances about martyrdom were also given by Infinity Ward.
In fact one of the most visible additions to the game’s multiplayer is the riot shield and it allows the players to completely block enemy fire. A good reason has been given by Infinity Ward behind this item and it has been also assured that it won’t break the game.
Todd Alderman, the multiplayer design lead said, “There is even something in there for people that can’t shoot…You get the riot shield and your job is to help your team.”
Fans of Modern Warfare 2 are worried about the riot shield that it may unbalance the game.
Infinity Ward says that the shield will only act as a primary weapon. With it players will be able to hold it with pistols. To it Alderman said, “So when you have the riot shield out, you can’t shoot. All you are doing is blocking.”
Well, there has been no word found in the interview on how this might be affected by a return of the overkill perk from CoD4 that allow the players to carry two primary weapons at once.
At least four new or modified weapons have been confirmed that will appear in Modern Warfare 2. Screenshots on the forum of Infinity Ward confirms this. It has been also reported through ComputerAndVideogames about the multiplayer mode’s custom killstreak.

The details as of now are 2 submachine guns and 2 assault rifles. Three of these four seems to be brand new, which are similar to Call of Duty 4 guns, and one is supposed to be a modified version of a gun from COD4.
Tavor TAR-21 seems to the newest and most unusual-looking gun. Tavor TAR-21 is the latest Israeli-made assault rifle. Confirmation of the gun comes from a single shot of the multiplayer footage, but it there is no confirmation for the campaign or the co-op modes.
FN SCAR-H is the other new assault rifle. Till date it has been confirmed to be in multiplayer.
H&K UMP .45 is the new sub machine gun and it has been confirmed through the screenshots of the multiplayer footage and few campaign cut scenes.
In the game the players will be able to choose rewards from different lengths of killstreaks. Players who can save a 15-kill streak may be able to use the AC-130 gunship from COD4 where as a less experienced gamer might be able to use something smaller, but of course more often.
More pretty footage has been unveiled by Infinity Ward. This uncut footage of Modern Warfare 2 was filmed during a Capture The Flag match. It shows that the player’s harrowing journey is making an attempt to deliver the flag to the base of the enemies.
You can capture a flag in the game if the full team of yours is communicating together while working on it. It seems as if we have not seen anything so much co-ordinated.
Also revealed from the video that the knife throwing is handy with equipped with silent kill technique.
When the footage ends, just before that two brand new features of the game are displayed. One is the “Host Migration” and the other is either a perk or a new weapon, which allows to hurl a throwing knife at the enemy.
The “Host Migration” is a passive feature of the game that automatically connects gamers in a match to a new host. So gamers do not need to shut down the match and boot back to the main lobby of the game.
Modern Warfare 2 will be having dual-wield weapons. This has been now officially confirmed by Infinity Ward.

Robert Bowling, the community manager of Infinity Ward, twittered that akimbo pistols would feature in the game. He said this recently after giving a presentation of Modern Warfare 2.
Let me quote Bowling what he said: “Just walked off stage. Crowd was amazing, went insane chanting ‘pick it up!’ when I stumbled over dual-wield Deagles. lol – Akimbo confirmed.”
On the official forum of Infinity Ward the above statement was elaborated. Here Bowling tried to allay fears that akimbo pistols would be to ooverpowered.
He said, “Now to calm some initial fears of ‘OMG! Overpowered!’. Akimbo is limited and balanced, just like everything in the game. It’s limited to side-arms, harder to aim than standard and you can’t go ADS (aim down sights) since you have a weapon in each hand.”
He also added there, “So don’t freak out before you see it in action.”
On the forum it was not made clear when the fans of Modern Warfare 2 will get a chance to see it in action.

Rumor is there that Modern Warfare 2 is going to get a public beta. Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward puts a check on this rumor. He says that they will be doing an internal beta, but if they feel for a public beta then they will explore that route also.

Bowling said that they will not say something as definitive as ‘No Beta Ever!’ He added that as of now all the fans and gamers have to wait till November 10. He further mentioned, “Unless of course you happen to be 50 Cent, Will Arnett, Dane Cook, or any other celebrity that wants to stop by.”
According to Bowling, “Once the internal beta is completed, if for any reason we feel we didn’t receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect…we would consider pushing forward with a public one, however at this point only an internal Closed Beta is planned.”
Long story. But we can still keep an expectation that before November 10 we may (only may) get to play Modern Warfare 2. Well, put down your views here whether you all really want a beta version of the game.
