Modern Warfare 2 has made a record by becoming one of only a handful of entertainment franchises that has taken a revenue of over $1bn says the publishers.

The game was released on November 10 and had made an estimated sale of $550m in just first 5 days.
The sales of MW2 has put the game alongside other games of $1bn titles like the Guitar Hero III and the World of Warcraft. Both owned by the same publisher Activision.
This sales has also puts the game alongside other entertainment franchises like the 3D science fiction smash Avatar.
On the 4th January reveal, the Avatar is the fourth-biggest film that has been ever made.
Well, direct comparisons between video games and films are difficult because the retail of games are between 3 and 5 times than the cost of a cinema ticket.
Michael Rawlinson, Director General of Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) said, “The phenomenal success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was undoubtedly one of the leading entertainment stories of the year and firmly established videogames as one of the leading forms of entertainment in the UK.”

Microsoft again wins the race. This time also in having exclusives as it is pretty strong weapon for it. This time in the war against competing platform holders.

We are well aware that Microsoft is not a stranger to the world when it comes to securing exclusive DLC rights for the Xbox 360. It has been well proved by the 2 extra Grand Theft Auto IV episodes.
Heading again in the race of exclusives, Microsoft now, though not to the same extent, has done it with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Let me quote words from CES, by way of Destructoid: “Any DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be hitting the Xbox 360 before any other platform.”
The competitive fact of it may not be enough in swaying a gamer in trading teams all of a sudden. Practically speaking, especially after the logging countless number of hours into collecting perks. It is hence one more victory that Microsoft can notch on its bedpost.

There will be no demo of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 before the launch on November 10. This has been confirmed Infinity Ward through their Twitter account.
On Twitter Infinity Ward writes: “No plan for a Demo before launch. The entire team is focused on polish all the way up to ship of the full game.”
May be as a fan it does not sounds good because we are eager to get a demo of it to the earliest.
Well, there is a good reason on part of Infinity Ward. They want to keep the excitement of the game till it is shipped.
If we recall, demo of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was also not released and a demo for Call of Duty: World at War was released after the launch.

Even the competitor now says that Modern Warfare 2 will be a great success. Ashley Cheng, the production director of Bethesda Game Studios (a pretty big video game developer and publisher) admitted on his blog that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would blow away its competition.

He said this while expressing his view on the holiday season of this year when lots of high-quality titles will be coming to the market around the world.
He said, “Not much coming out, in regards to AAA hardcore gamer’s games to stand up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, other than Halo: ODST. Assassin’s Creed 2, Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2, Brutal Legend and Dragon Age are the other AAA that look like they will ship this year. The new Forza looks good, too.”
He also mentioned that Modern Warfare 2 will become the best selling on Xbox 360 or PS3. He also said that many big guns are late to release that is why MW2 is practically guaranteed to be very successful.
Readers and also those who regularly comments, put down your views on what Ashley Cheng said.

Is the picture shows the cover art of Modern Warfare 2? Yes. It is the cover box of the game.
Did you notice any thing special in it?
It is the name tag of the Call of Duty. Yes, in the game case and box art there holds the Call of Duty tag with the Modern Warfare name. This is the fresh and just completed production ready and it is of course waiting to be filled with retail discs.
The Community Manager of Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling (aka FourZero Two) recently revealed the cases of MW2 with box art images to display the Call of Duty brand being present right on the front.
Well! lots of adding and subtracting phase of the brand awareness name tag is over now with this release of cover art. But yeah, may be in future the publisher may slowly wipe out the CoD name.

There has been one more twist in Modern Warfare 2. This time it is regarding the relationship with the Call of Duty. This game will not leave the nest without the name of mom and dad. The reason is unknown. Now it will carry the tag of Call of Duty with it.

The hints which comes to media regarding adding the CoD name with it before the release is simply for brand awareness. Destructoid’s Nick Chester shared a Google Trends chart displaying a rapid drop in focus on Modern Warfare when it was dated. At the same time, few analysts were also saying that MW2 may not be able to stand on its own two feet quite yet.
One more reason is there of adding the Call of Duty name. MW2 is the first real sequel in the long running series of Call of Duty. Infinity Ward has said, “We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series.”
Well call it as you like it. One thing is assured that this game in the series is going to sell like hotcakes.

Recently there was a survey that suggested that the future Call of Duty games may charge a monthly fee. This news was something like a shock to all the fans of CoD series.

The developer of Call of Duty series, Infinity Ward, has assured fans after this news, which was flooded in the media that they won’t be paying for any subscription service in Modern Warfare 2. They said that they have nothing to do with the rumor and it is also implemented with Modern Warfare 2.
This was the message that was posted by Infinity Ward in their official forum:
“This rumor has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2. We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don’t worry. Multiplayer will always be equal and free for everyone as always.”
