MW2 will have lot of variety says Jason West

News comes that MW2 will be featuring wide open gameplay that will have a lot of variety in it. This statement comes from Jason West, the President of Infinity Ward through an extensive ten-page feature in the Game Informer, US magazine. The feature article of the magazine also reveals some more key new details regarding the hotly-anticipated Modern Warfare 2.

It says that the plot of the game is set to a backdrop of continued Russian Federation instability. But it will make gamers flung from Siberia to Afghanistan and also through the slums of Rio De Janeiro.
The expectations of the game: chases on snowmobiles, a single-player experience which takes a bit longer to complete than the original Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward is actively trying to eliminate the endless respawning enemies which caused problems for sneakier players in the original Modern Warfare. There are also riot shields, movable turrets, customisable weapons, and of course more acrobatic player movements (now one can swim and even climb ice ledges), and a fully separate co-op mode that features its own levels.

Meanwhile, we covered a story about what gamers want in MW2 recently and we received good comments from readers and gamers. Keep on commenting on the article What gamers want of Modern Warfare 2

sounds sweet… customizable weapons sounds hot, and swimming will be fun. now all we need is underwater warfare… haha.

Well i just got done looking at the preview for the new MW2, so far I was able to make out a airport, an airplane, a fighter jet, a sub, an oil plat, what looked like to be a bus or a subway. I wasn’t sure…. Just from what I have seen this game is going to be GREAT!!!! I can’t wait. It looks like the Navy Seals even get a little play in this. VERY NICE!!!

Seriously, the developers need to make up their minds. First they say the campaign will be shorter than COD4’s, then they say it’ll be about the same, and now their saying it’ll be a little bit longer. Let’s hope for the latter.

That would be cool if in this new COD there can be more than 2 teams and can drive on online play

I hope they don’t have vehicles in the new one with online play, it sucks, ok for the single player game but I felt it spoilt WAW and I never went back to it, much prefer MW

They should totally do a shopping mall map with moving escalators and mannaquins and stuff. Even if it ends up being an story unrelated bonus map like Chinatown. Oh and I hope they get rid of the martydom perk because that is the crappiest and biggest cop out tactic on MW!

Oh and I hope they use the one good thing to come out of WAW and thats the highlighting of your party in BLUE on the online UAV/MAP.

Martyrdom and Juggernaut are for noobs, plain and simple, I have no problem with them and when I first started playing I was grateful for them. As I’ve improved through the game I now use different perks, it’s all a trade off. I dislik Juggernaut more than martyrdom simply because it takes more bullets to kill them but martyrdom…. it’s not difficult to run away from the grenade. I miss that feeling of being killed then knowing you took one of them with ya :-)

DD, it does suck, but I do get a real sense of satisfaction when I kill someone with Juggernaut :-)

they should definatly let u drive your own helecopter if u get 7 kills rather than let the computer do it or at least let you shoot the turret on the helicopter while an AI drives it… that would b amazin

    I do too!

  21. June 4th, 2009 at 02:47 | #21

@David-Yeah, I like using a shotgun w/stopping power. Kills in one hit even with Juggerfag. It’d be cool if they made a “body armor” perk instead-like real life, pistols and smg’s are not very effective, but assault rifles, snipers, lmg’s, and shotguns are. They’d have to make the M4 and G36c less effective than the heavier caliber rifles though (barrels aren’t long enough to give the 5.56 enough barrel twist and momentum).

  22. June 4th, 2009 at 02:55 | #22

I looked at the full trailer again, and it appears there are 5 or 6 new weapons shown-Protecta drum shotgun, Kriss .45 smg, Galil rifle (Israel’s 5.56 AK), modern AK (AK-100 series?), Glock 17/18. Also, the demo showed a suppressed Sig 552 Commando and a FAMAS rifle. Looks like I’m gonna be earning a lot of attachments come November…
