I’d like to take this time to make sure everyone knows this IS NOT the official site.
So at the moment Google has this site #1 for the search term “modern warfare 2″ and I don’t want IW to sue the crap out of me so I’m going to make sure everyone knows the official Modern Warfare 2 site is located here. I don’t know why they put me back to #1, the day after the trailer was released they stuck IW at #1 but it has since slipped back to #2.
Hey also, don’t you guys own modernwarfare2.com? That question is directed at the IW guys if they should happen to read this post. If you guys have the .com just move all your stuff over to it and it will out rank this site just because it’s the .com
Anyway, I’m sure Google will figure it out soon enough, in the mean time try not to sue me OK? I mean after all, I always give you guys love and make sure everyone knows you’re way better devs than Treyarch

The reason that modernwarfare2.net outranks the official site is due to a number of possible factors. The main factor is almost always backlinks. The quality & number of backlinks you’re receiving with “modern warfare 2″ as the anchor text going to modernwarfare2.net is greater than the official gaming site. Also, the amount of content takes a role as well, which you obviously have more of.
Also, just because they own the “.com” does not mean it will automatically outrank the .net version. In the end of domain extension is irrelevant. It’s those onsite and offsite variables (backlinks and content) that make the difference.
I guarantee you though, once Modern Warfare 2 gets closer to release date, you won’t outrank them.
