Give Feedback on Modern Warfare 2 Via Twitter!

February 20th, 2009

I’ve been advocating the power of Twitter pretty hardcore recently, especially the value in using it as a conversation tool and more importantly tracking those conversations and using the feedback contained within. That philosphy gave birth to http://twitter.infinityward.com . A Twitter web-app for tracking conversations and feedback for Modern Warfare 2 we’ve been developing behind the scenes.

The #MW2 app went live earlier today Yesterday, and within an hour has officially become the #1 most talked about topic on Twitter (just behind American Idol). I was blown away with the response to our first question, “Name one thing you’d like to see in Modern Warfare 2″ .

However, the ability to see real-time feedback and conversations about Modern Warfare 2 feeding through the app is only the beginning. The best part is the ability to vote on suggestions and rise in the ranks on the Leaderboards. Allowing us to quickly check the top rated suggestions, and reach out to the users with the best suggestions to hopefully include them in future events, beta tests, or community days.

How can you participate?

First and foremost, you can follow me on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/fourzerotwo) and keep an eye out for the next question. It will also be visible at all times at http://twitter.infinityward.com under CURRENT QUESTION.

When a question is asked, all you have to do is tweet your answer / suggestion along with #MW2 .

What is #MW2?

#MW2 is the official Hashtag for Modern Warfare 2. Which means, anytime I,or anyone else, is talking about Modern Warfare 2 on Twitter, we’ll mark it with #MW2 so it can be tracked and included on the http://twitter.infinityward.com live feed as well as searched for on Twitter.

#MW2 Leaderboards

Once you’ve thrown your suggestion or comment about Modern Warfare 2 into the Live Feed, you can track and vote on other peoples suggestions, and track the top users on the #MW2 Leaderboard. It’s a great way to get recognized in the community and I’ll be using it to identify community members to reach out to in Call of Duty / Infinity Ward future events and projects.

Feedback on the App

This is a fairly unique social media experiment in terms of using it to solicit feedback for game design. So any comments, suggestions, or feedback on how to make the #MW2 app even better is always appreciated. I’m always looking for new ways to reach out to our players and strike up a conversation. Feel free to drop me a line at robert.bowling@fourzerotwo.com with any inquiries about the web app, or how you can help.

what the f you’re an idiot do you know anything about guns? LMG’s are so bouncy because they are support weapons that fire large rounds at fast rates which is why they are so unaccurate and an SMG is a small tactical weapon used for going in close qaurters hence CQC or CQB and fire 9 millimeter rounds which aren’t as powerful therefoe there is less muzzle climb. If the LMG’s fired like SMG’s than call of duty would not be realistic and would blow donkey dongs so maybe you should go do some resaerch before you open you’re retarded mouth Eintsien!

No hes not lmgs are bouncy because they fire fifty cals at high velocity you should see how slow some of those guns shot in real life.

how about putting in the XM307 Advanced Crew Served grenade MG for last prestiege it could slow you down alot and have alot of recoil but be be able too kill in like 3 shots. And you think the people hiding with snipers in like the urban maps i always used too get mad when they killed me but you know what thats what real urban snipers do!

Вообще, на мой взгляд, самое лучшее в личном блоге, так это самопознание.

    As a sad 50 year old….. (only sad because of non-dedicated servers)…
let me say..i probably played and admined a game server..before you were born…. MUD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD where i played.(as a wizard).. on the original essex server (a prime computer..)….. with the original developers)…
this was probably the first adminned multiplayer game in the world..(around 1987). and yes..there were retards….. in those days..it was’nt kick or ban..it was FOD…. finger of death…….
anyway…that was a long long time ago..but the dedicated game server started there basically…. and has been proved in the past..it is the best form of multiplayer gaming.
if you want advice.. dont change something that isnt broken… just try enhance it without the ‘ we are taking total control’ because all you will do is destroy the thing you have created for the pc community over the last decade in cod warfare……)..thats a fact.
as for the 500 strong community we have at gchq.. we wont be endorsing your game.
    regards.
    not buying it.

haha nicey – i feel for the PC users – but too many PC nerds pirate the game and then mod it, hack it, and supply dickheads with hacks n cheats.
I wish the PS3 network had dedicated AUSTRALIAN servers – because joining servers for Australians is rooted 90% of the time – you end up joining stupid American or European servers – doesnt matter how good your connection is – you will have a ping not worth playing with. If we had the dedicated servers or a way of being able to join low ping servers, it would be awesome to the max – at the moment, it joins any server with a ping under 100ms – you need a ping of under 30ms to be able to play at optimal performance. So I feel the pain of crappy server set up.

I’ve notice that I get killed after I am behind cover.
Looking at the killcam, I haven’t even got to my cover.
I run a very fast dedicated internet line (15m).
Is this a glitch and is someone working on it?
Unlike the first game, going prone or crouching behind cover will spare you from dying.

Does anyone else have this problem?
would like to know when or if an update will be created.

    running on ps3

Get rid of double shotguns (unbeatable face to face and they shoot and kill from way too far of a distance), get rid of the grenade launchers (they ruin the gameplay for the better players…you already have deathstreaks for those newbs), make the thermal show HEAT in the cold/snow maps rather than it being difficult to see white on white.

also use some tips from Activision like more points for assists in which you wound them more heavily than others (since the 70 levels is a lot this would help). Also Activision allowed you to check the leaderboards and stats of those in the game lobby with you (pre-game/post-game) and that was very nice

Serious problem exist with being the host. I don’t mind being the host. As a host, bullets appear from no where–as though you have a penalty lag. When ever I’m dying and can’t seem to get a shot off – I quit and sure enough, the system must migrate to a new host. I’ve noticed other players doing the same. When they are the host – they quit a few minutes into the game. Check their score and they have died much more than they have kills. Is there a fix scheduled – until the fix, host are just going to keep quitting the game and everyone looses.
