First details of MW2 emerged

May 13th, 2009

After the 10 seconds gameplay footage of Modern Warfare 2, the first hard details about it have emerged. The information of this sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has been leaked in one of the leading gaming magazine.

According to it, Modern Warfare 2 will be set several years after its predecessor. In the game, again the political instability inside a fictional near-future Russia threatens the world. The thread now will be in the form of a terrorist organization. One of the two heroes of the game, Sergeant “Soap” MacTavish, has been promoted to captain in the Special Air Services (SAS), Britain’s equivalent of the US Navy SEALs. This MacTavis, being part of a new commando unit, will be guiding the players through a series of grueling missions that also includes an ice-climbing infiltration of a frozen Russian army base.

Modern Warfare 2 will also address the issue of infinitely spawning enemies. It also boasts new “Special Forces” mode, which is very similar to the Mile High Club and the airplane-hijack level. Moreover, the hope of many, the cooperative campaign is MIA in Modern Warfare 2.

What’s your favorite sniper rifle to use in Call of Duty 4?

May 13th, 2009

How many of you enjoy using the sniper rifle? I was never much of a fan, not because I don’t enjoy using the sniper rifle but because unless you actually spend some time practicing with it then the only way you can get any kills is by camping. If there is one thing I hate in COD, it’s camping. So that’s basically the reason I never snipe. For whatever reason I have decided it’s time to start sniping and practicing.

I made a video of my “training”. I went into Killhouse that had less than 7 people. Figure if you’re in a smaller map it forces you to act faster when sniping which is pretty much the hard part of sniping. Anyone can go camp someplace and pick people off, good snipers can let themselves be fairly out in the open and get some kills. For my training game I usually sat atop one of the little huts in Killhouse so that people could see me but I could also duck behind that little wall if I needed to.

There was a guy in there named |E2|Zero and we were sniping back and fourth for most of the time which was pretty fun.

So what is your favorite sniper rifle to use? Mine favorite gun is the M40A. You really can’t beat the power and accuracy of the M40 in my opinion. However, I will say I love using the 50cal when in tighter areas where enemies can run up on you because it has awesome semi-auto noscoping ability.

The R700 seems to take a long time to reset after taking a shot, dunno if it’s my imagination or reality. It does have tons of power but that reset time kills it for me.

When I first started playing Call of Duty I loved the Dragunov and the M21 because of their quick fire ability, now days I don’t care for them because they lack power and accuracy.

How about the ACOG? Anyone like the ACOG? I never really learned to like or use that scope but I have seen some good sniping with it. There is a guy I play with in S&D servers by the name of “Mb@pewp” or something, who seems to do very well with the M40A/ACOG.

Here is the training video I made last night, not bad considering I don’t hardly ever use a sniper rifle. I’m going to upload another one after I practice sniping for couple months and I’ll be able to compare the two and see if I got any better.

I’m trying to figure out the little jerk/twitch thing for increasing accuracy. I don’t know how consoles work but on the PC if you make a slight jerk or twitch to one side before or after your shot, it will dramatically increase your accuracy. Go check out a promod server and spec some of those players when they snipe, it can be a beautiful thing to watch when done correctly.

‘Call of Duty’ is back in the title of MW2

May 9th, 2009

Good news for all CoD fans. At last a confirmation comes from Activision that the brand ‘Call of Duty’ is back in the title of CoD 4 sequel, Modern Warfare 2.

Michael Griffith, the Activision boss, recently said during its quarterly earnings call last night that he expects Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to be the “must-have title of the year.”

Griffith also mentioned that when the first version of the Modern Warfare was introduced two years before, the game set a new bar for first person action games. The catalog sales for MW continued to be strong and till now has sold over 13 million units globally.

According to updates there has been no details leaked as yet, but expect mags full of new information to land around E3 – where the big reveal will be happening.

Meanwhile we have received very good response (comments) from all the readers upon the following two articles:

Rumour: MW2 on Nintendo’s Wii platform

May 7th, 2009
Comments Off

it’s not uncommon for Call of Duty games to see release on Nintendo’s Wii platform, Modern Warfare was a bit of an odd exception, leaving something of a hole between Call of Duty 3 and World at War.

And it appeared that Modern Warfare 2 would continue that trend, announced only for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. However, Amazon.co.uk seems show otherwise, listing a version of the title for the Wii hardware as well.

Of course, this may simply be an error on the UK branch of Amazon’s part, as they are the only one which seems to show the title, in addition to the fact that they still show the “Call of Duty” name attached, which the sequel has dropped.

On the other hand, Activision often tends to release its games on as many platforms as it can, so ultimately, we’ll just have to wait and see where this goes. Perhaps E3 will hold an answer.

Juggernaut sucks for gamers comments readers

May 5th, 2009

Yesterday we put up an article about what the gamers want in Modern Warfare 2. We have received a good number of comments and it is still flowing in. Few of the comments are really very rational and hope that it gives the Infinity Ward people a serious look before the launch of the game.

One of the serious gamer wrote, “I would really love to see attachments for my primary weapon, along with silenced sniper rifles! Juggernaut sucks when you play against it, but its still part of the game and gives and extra challenge.”

Just check what one more reader writes about the juggernaut. He writes, “I don’t even use juggernaut; I use stopping power. Although if they do get rid of juggernaut, then I think they need to get rid of stopping power also. These two perks were designed to be in the game together. People that bitch about juggernaut are just babies who need to get better at the game. I hope they don’t get rid of juggernaut and keep stopping power just because a bunch of bitches are complaining about their lack of skill.”

We welcome more such serious comments from gamers who are waiting desperately for the game to be launched on the scheduled day of 10th November.

What gamers want of Modern Warfare 2

May 4th, 2009

A survey was made by a website that asked readers for feedback about what weapons gamers like to see in Modern Warfarer 2. The website received overwhelming responses. There were 1,500 replies in the comments section of the website.

A lot of gamers wanted to see more weapon customization and there were a lot of requests for more pistols, sub machine guns and rifles like the FAMAS. A good deal of gamers also wished to see a perk that will allow for two attachments for their primary weapons.

There were also hundreds of gamers who were simply posting endless lists of weapons complete with model numbers.

The things, very few, that most of the gamers would not want in Modern Warfare 2 is the Silenced snipers and a return for the Juggernaut perk.

These were just a snippets from the feedback of the website. Wish someone from Infinity Ward stumbles on this and may take all such requests into consideration. Let’s hope for better.

Close competition between Halo and MW2

May 2nd, 2009

Gamasutra reveals that Halo 3: ODST as of now is the most anticipated Xbox 360 game. This is followed very closely by Modern Warfare 2. If we closely cross check the data, it is learned that ODST is in fact the game with the highest “intent to purchase.” Modern Warfare 2 has the highest pre-order intent according to the research report.

It is not a surprise that Halo is a monster franchise, a franchise that is very co-op friendly. Despite 4 of the Halo games i.e. 1,2, 3 and Halo Wars gamers have an insatiable appetite to kick.

It is reflected that for somewhat more dedicated audience the figure represents the proportion of planned purchasers who say they will put advance money down.

If Infinitiy Ward adds a true 4 player co-op mode then gamers will be putting money down as well.

After Halo 3: ODST and MW2 there is in the race Madden NFL ’10 with 15% expressing intent on purchasing if compared with close to 25% of Microsoft gamers planning an ODST or MW2 purchase.
